Cedar County has been designated as a "Great Place." Among the benefits of our State of Iowa Great Places Designation is our county's ability to apply for special project grants. Through our earlier work with the Visioning Plan the county participated in last year, it offered strong direction to what type of project we should take on. The project we are pursuing is the "Pride of Place and People." It includes two major components. One is a county-wide mural campaign celebrating each participating communities heritage and values. Second is supporting our communities' gathering places through recreational park development. These two projects together helps us celebrate our communities visually and actively.
